A Word from the Pastor
I'm sure that many of us have thought that we would have accomplished greater feats and become better individuals if only we had not a particular problem to deal with or a difficult person to work with. We tend to think that problems, hardships, and troubles keep us from being or doing better than we are. In the long view of things, I am no so sure of that statement.
Troubles, problems and challenges in life in whatever form they take, can be our unrecognized blessing to make us what God wants us to be. I think they can become the leverage we need to make us stronger and successful. The attitude we take will determine the value of our trials.     For example, in the difficult times we discover what strengths and weaknesses we have. The problem shapes us into people who are smarter, swifter, and successful. This only adds to our character to take challenges and overcome the trials of life.
As I spoke to the church last Sunday evening, we have a great challenge to face as a church. That is to rise up and begin to move forward in a positive way. Our attitude must be more positive, our will must be to cooperate for the glory of God. We must give and work sacrificially. This is a call upon the character of everyone of us.
We have a choice in the midst of trial. We can give up or stand up. We can give in or dig in to meet the challenges before us. My prayer is that you will join me in the effort to use the trials of our church as stepping stones to growth and advancement for the Kingdom of God.
Love, Your Pastor

Have you ever prepared for a VIP? I remember doing this often in the workplace as big wigs come calling. I also remember the little town of Startex preparing for a visit from President Jimmy Carter.
A little boy attended his first symphony concert. Of all the instruments, his favorite was the cymbals. He listened for that first loud dramatic crash of these brass discs. He noticed that for most of the evening the cymbal player stood motionless while the other musicians played on. Only occasionally was he called upon to make his contribution.
After the concert, the little boy sough out the cymbalist. "How much do you need to know to play the cymbals?" The answer: "You don't have to know much at all. You only have to know when."
I thought about our Lord's Second Coming. None of us know when but we need to be prepared. We also need to "love His appearing."
