HAPPY HEART LINES
PLEASANT GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH,   GREER, SC
___________________________________________________________________________
VOL. X                   NO.II
October 15, 2009
Dr. Danny Emory,Pastor
Jo Edwards   HH President

By the time you read this, we will have celebrated the 175th birthday of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  Many of you have been members here for all of your lives.  Thanks to you, Pleasant Grove has remained a vital part of the Greer Association.  May God bless us and help us to continue as we serve Him here.

We will have a guest speaker coming to share in our time of devotion at our regular monthly meeting of Happy Hearts on Tuesday, October 21, 2008.  Don’t let someone have to tell you about it.  Come and be a part of this wonderful group.

Betty Wood, Doris Reynolds and all of food group #2 will be in charge of setting up the dining room and taking care of the dishes we bring for our covered dish luncheon.  They ask that all of their group meet Monday, October 20th at 1:00 to prepare the dining room.  The drinks and bread will be provided.

Also, for our October meeting, Dortcha Smith has invited Larry Jones and his wife, Mary Sue, to be our guests and provide the program for us.  Larry is the nephew of Mildred Davis.

We continue to remember in prayer the family of Mrs. Mildred Tuck.  She was always such a delight to be around.

We plan to have a sign up sheet for a one day trip to the mountains at the meeting and we are looking for those who have an interest in going to Pigeon Forge, TN a little later on in the fall.  We will have sheets for that also.

As I write this, we are three weeks away from the presidential election.  Pray for God’s guidance in this as you vote and that His will is done in the election.  Our country is in need of the Hand of God more now that I can ever remember in my lifetime.

Keep trusting in the One who has kept us in His care through many years as His children; He will not let us go now.

I look forward to seeing each of you next Tuesday.

A Word from the Pastor
October 19th will be a great day for Pleasant Grove, for on this day we celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the church.
What a wonderful thought that 175 years ago, 14 believers gathered to form this church. I am sure they realized then what we realize now that the very foundation of this body of believers rests upon the very foundation of the person of Jesus Christ. That is our beginning.
The present and future of this church is found in our stewardship of faithfulness, commitment and sacrifice. My prayer is that we will continue the ministry with great zeal, greater vision ,and greater sacrifice than those who came before us.
Love, Your Pastor
Don's Dabblings
Following a delicious meal prepared by Susan Davidson, our Crusader  “C” team got busy writing 16 notes and card, making 2 telephone calls, praying for 42 individuals and making 9 personal visits. Many thanks for your participation!
Help us distribute CARE cards on Sunday morning. If you see a guest in our service, please give them a card to complete. Please continue to complete CARE  card indicating needs that we can address.
In these days of economic uncertainty and wondering what promises to believe about political candidates, it is so reassuring to realize the faithfulness of God. The book of Lamentations records it this way: “His compassion fail not; they are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness (3:22-23)
Many times in the Bible we are reminded of the faithfulness of God. Every time you see a rainbow after the storm , you see a reminder of Gods faithfulness. Think of other evidences of God’s faithfulness:
God is faithful to save all who call upon Him. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13)
God is faithful to sympathize, Jesus is called our merciful and faithful high priest. “The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and His ears are open to their cries”  (Hebrews 2:17)
3. God is Faithful to forgive. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9)
4. But also remember—God is also faithful to chasten. “Thou in faithfulness hath afflicted me” (Psalm 119:75 )
Looking around us, we may wonder whether God knows or cares. Now hear this—He knows and He cares! “Great is  Thy faithfulness.
Our shut-in for the week beginning, Sunday is W.A. Williams, 105 Hill St. Greer, Sc 29651-4512
