A Word from the PastorHow can we describe the beautiful colors of autumn? As I look around and see the trees, the fall flowers, even the sunsets, I am made aware of how God brings beauty in our lives where ever we look. In our fast paced world, do we stop and look at the beauty God provides. In our fast paced lives, do we take time to enjoy the fellowship with our Heavenly Father? Do we consider what He does for us? Take time to thank Him. To thank Him, we have to spend time with Him. May God bless you as you spend time thanking our wonderful Lord for the beauty He creates. Love, Your Pastor Don's Dabblings Following some delicious chicken, macaroni, slaw, etc. prepared by Jennifer Donald and Lounell Rodd, our Reaching “R” and Evangelistic “E” teams combined to write 26 notes and cards, made 7 calls, prayers for 37 individuals, and made 9 personal visits. Many thanks to all who came and participated CARE is not meeting this week , but will resume next Tuesday, November 4. Our schedule for November is noted: Nov. 4— “C” and “A” Teams November 11— “R” and “E” Teams As I minister to our senior adults and shut-ins, I am constantly reminded of a line from a poem by Joseph Campbell: “As a white candle in a holy place, so is the beauty of an aged face.” This line certainly applies to people who have served the Lord all their lives, and are still bearing fruit in old age. Think of the wrinkles standing for earnest times of prayer, loving care, and decades of useful work. The elderly are not always appreciated. Over the years, I have seen the living in wretched conditions. Many feel rejected and abandoned. They echo the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 71:9: “Do not cast me off in the time of old age: do not forsake me when my strength fails.” Let me take this opportunity to thank our senior adults for their faithfulness and encouragement. Our shut-in for the week beginning, Sunday is Gwen Nodine, Bay Berry Retirement Center, 309 Northview Dr, Greer, SC 29651-1340 Love in Christ, Don Kelley Ballard's Ballads We will have an Extra Cantata Rehearsal this Sunday from 4-5 pm in the choir room. I had originally planned for 7:30—8:30 pm, but the 4:00 pm time seems to work better. On Sunday, November 16th, we will have a Sunday School Teacher’s Lunch and Meeting for all teachers and their families. Any department leaders and teachers are asked to stay for the meeting time from 12:45—2:00 pm. Tom Capps will be our guest speaker. This meeting will be important as we plan for the coming year in Sunday School. Joyful Sound from North Greenville University will be in concert here on Nov. 23th at 5 pm. This will be a love offering concert. Following the concert we will celebrate with our traditional Thanksgiving meal as a church family. This will be a covered dish supper. Hanging of the Green will be on Nov. 30th at 6:30 pm. Join us as we celebrate and bring in the Christmas season with this special service. All the choirs will be singing special numbers at this service. The Adult Choir Christmas Party will be on Saturday, Dec. 6th at the Ballard’s home. It will begin at 6 pm. Please mark this date on your calendar. Serving for Jesus, Gary To Top |
