HAPPY HEART LINES             PLEASANT GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH, GREER, SC
_
VOL. X - NO.II             December 10, 2008   Dr. Danny Emory, Pastor   Jo Edwards, HH President

Greetings to all of you and we wish you a Very Merry Christmas.  May God Bless you as you are with family and friends at this most Holy Season.  Because Jesus came to earth as a baby, we celebrate His birth; but more than that, we celebrate His Life because He has given us eternal life.
We remember the life of Mrs. Mabel Hodgens in her passing and celebrate with her family as she has moved on to where she has been laying up treasures in her eternal home as she served The Lord here on earth and in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Our December meeting will be at Lakeview Steak House at 11:00 am on Dec. 16th.  We will meet at Lakeview unless you need transportation.  Please call either Rev. Kelley or me if you need to ride with someone.  If we need it, we can take the bus.  Also, if you have not signed up, let us know as soon as possible.  We need to plan for YOU.
We will not have a speaker for the meeting but you will want to be there just in case someone shows up that you will want a word with.  It's still early and I know you have been GOOD.
Since our October meeting, we had fourteen of our Happy Hearts to go on a trip to Pigeon Forge, TN and we had a wonderful time; seeing two shows and enjoying the fellowship. Thanks to Rev. Kelley for arranging this trip and taking good care of us.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF OUR SHUT-INS.  MAY YOUR HOLIDAYS BE BRIGHT.
GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.
I look forward to seeing each of you next Tuesday.
Jo Edwards, HH President Margaret Lynn, HH Secretary

Thank You Notes
Thanks to so many of you who showed, so much kindness during the illness and death of Mabel Hodgens. To ffod group #2, to Danny and Don for their visits and concerns, cards and calls-things on never forgets.
Joyce Hodgens and Marie Wood

Thank you for having your Fall Festival and opening it up to the community. We enjoyed the event. Our children liked the pony rides and the large slide the best. My husband and I enjoyed the food and the cupcakes. We hope you plan to do another on next year. May God bless you for your generosity.

A Word from the Pastor
What a wonderful season we celebrate. Thank you Pleasant Sounds for sharing with us Sunday night.

Because of Jesus birth, we have the responsibility of telling His story to everyone. Yes, to our families, friends and to the ends of the earth. What can we do to ensure that every tribe, tongue and nation hear the story of Jesus?

The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering goal for our church is $5,500 to support 5,317 missionaries, 1,081 short-term missionaries and 4,236 career missionaries. It costs $113.04 per day, $4.71 per hour and $.08 per minute to support a missionary. Every penny given to the Lottie Moon offering is used to support our missionaries as they share the gospel overseas.

How can we support our missionaries, first pray for them daily, especially Ken and Cathy Moore. If 250 of our members gave $22, we would reach our goal. I challenge each of you to give above this amount to share the story of Jesus.

Sunday, December 21, will be our Lottie Moon Christmas March during our worship service. Come, expect the Lord's work to be done because you gave.
Love, Your Pastor

Don's Dabblings
Our Crusaders and Ambassadors Teams combined last Tuesday night and following a delicious meal prepared by Susan Davidson and Stephanie Bennefield, wrote 30 card and notes, made 1 telephone call, prayed for 29 individuals and made 5 personal visits.

Lately we have not been receiving complete CARE cards. Your participation in our CARE ministry is essential.

In the Christmas story as recorded in Luke 2, the angel who appeared to the shepherds has an introduction and three points to his messages.

His introduction; "Fear not" - that's the usual words of angels throughout Scripture.

His first point: "For unto you is born this day...a Saviour"…(Luke 2:11) the first point was the simple gospel.

The second point: …"which shall be to all people", The Saviour was for all people. That is really good news because somewhere among "all the people" is room for you and me.

The third point: "..ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger" (Luke 2:12). Gods Word would be verified in their experience.

The most impressive aspect of the Angel's message was the shepherd's response to the Angels' invitation: (Luke 2:15-16). The Bible says they went immediately into Bethlehem to find the Christ Child. Why don't we respond when we hear the Word preached to forgive, to tithe, to serve, or to forgive? Have we really worshipped if we fail to respond?

The shepherds went back to being shepherds but they had let the Word of God change their lives

Our shut-in beginning Sunday, Dec. 17 is Tillie Beddingfield, Rosewood Assisted Living, 5221 Hwy 215, Pauline, SC 39374

On December 14th at 6:30 pm, the Children's Choir, with El Bethel children's choir will present their musical here at Pleasant Grove.
