Issue 05, Year 2009 Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday, February 1, 2009 Bring $1.00 or a can of food. This is a national event but every dollar and canned goods collected will be donated directly to Greer Community Ministries. Our youth will hold containers at our doors as you enter for Sunday School and leave after worship. Pray as we enjoy the Super Bowl, let us be mindful of those who are without a "bowl of soup" to eat.

Men's Fraternity is a Bible study that provides men with an encouraging process that teaches them how to live lives of authentic men modeled by Jesus Christ and directed by the Word of God. This begins February 17th at 6:30 pm in the youth room in the Family Life Center BYW News BYW Home Meeting will be Thursday, February 19th at the home of Wanda Smith. A Word from the PastorI am excited about MEN"S FRATERNITY getting started on February 17th. I have a desire to deepen our Men's Ministry at Pleasant Grove. This program will certainly enhance the Men's Ministry, deepen our men's walk with God, and strengthen our church. We will begin February 17th at 6:30 pm. I believe it will be best to purchase a book to use as we go through the session. The cost of the book is $10.00. I will try to have the book for the first meeting. We will meet in the youth room in the Family Life Center Please come casual, relaxed and ready to be challenged. Do feel free to invite your friends. This program will be good for you and me! Love, Your Pastor Don's Dabblings Following some delicious home cooking by Lounell Rodd, our Reaching "A" Team ministered effectively writing 17 notes and cards, making 2 telephone calls, praying for 40 individuals, and making 4 personal visits. Please complete CARE cards so that we will be enabled to minister more effectively. Have you ever been afflicted with that which we call self doubt? I suppose all of us have faced situations where-in we felt inadequate on unprepared. I ran across a prescription for that. The prescription has four ingredients that all begin with the letter "R"? Realize that you were prescribed before birth. (Psalm 139:13-16) God made us just like we ought to be-warts and all. Remember that the process is still going on. God is not finished with any of us yet! Refuse to compare yourself with others. We need to stop looking at those around us and keep our focus on the Lord. Respond correctly to those weak points. Change them if you can. If not, pray about them. Attention Senior Adults Remember our Senior Adult Valentine Banquet, Saturday, February 14th at 4:30 pm. There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board adjacent to the Sunday School Office or you can contact Jo Edwards. The cost is $7:00. Our shut-in of the week, beginning Sunday is W.A. Williams, 108 Oak Hill St, Greer, SC 29651-4512 Love in Christ, Don Kelley Ballard's Ballads On February 2 at 4 pm, there will be a meeting of the SS Leadership who are working on Friend Day, We will meet in the Fellowship Hall. Baptist Men's Day is February 15th. We plan to fill the choir with men. We will be singing Unclouded Day. Meet with us at 10:15 am in the choir room. Sunday School Workers Meeting and Luncheon is scheduled for Sunday, February 22 from 11:30 am-2:00 pm. Tommy Comer from First Baptist Gaffney will be our guest speaker. He will be sharing about how we can better do Ministry in our church and community. The lunch will be provided by our Kitchen Team.. We will also be kicking off our Friend Day promotion for Easter Sunday. Serving for Jesus, Gary Michael's Youth News [Youth and Children News] We had a great time this past weekend at Chillipeppers Conference. The speakers and the musical groups were a blessing and enriched our time together in the Lord. I would like to say thank you to all the chaperons that went with us: Toby Spearman, Donna Wood, Donna Morris, Wanda Smith, and Henry Donald. Thanks Guys. Without you, this trip would not be possible. I also want to thank the youth for being so well behaved, it a pleasure to be the leader of such a fine group of young men and women. Finally, I would like to thank the church for all your prayers and support. Please remember to keep our youth in your prayers continually. Philippians 1:2-3. Valentine Party We will have a Valentine Party for the youth and children on Wednesday February 11. The youth will still meet in the youth room and the children will meet in the Fellowship Hall following Awana. There will be no youth council meeting this Sunday the 1st.
