Issue 06, Year 2009 Women On Misson Emphasis Watchword: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself" (Matt. 22:37–39 NIV, adapted).Scripture Passage: "Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: ‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?' Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matt. 22:34–40 NIV). Join us Sunday Night 6:30 pm

AWANA NEWS Ever since the fall of 1999, our AWANA club has sponsored a needy AWANA club in Jamaica. You can see letters and pictures from them on the bulletin board near the back door of the church. The dues that your child brings each week go to help these children buy handbooks, uniforms, and awards. We have designated February as Adopt-a-Club month. Each child who brings at least $4.00 during February will receive an Adopt-a-Club patch or pin to wear on their uniform. Help us show God's love to our Jamaican AWANA friends. On Wednesday, February 11, all AWANA students should report directly to handbook time at 6:30, and then we will go to the Fellowship Hall at 7:00 for the Children's Valentine party. Parents, please pick up your children at 7:45 in the Fellowship Hall. Thank You The Properties Committee would like to Robert Smith and Marion Smith for repairing the cemetery entrance. It looks very nice. I would like to thank every one for your prayers, calls, card. Thank you to Rev. Donel Kelley and Louise Dillard for their visit. Please continue to pray for me. Hilda Morris The wonderful love from the church family of Pleasant Grove means so much to us and we appreciate you reaching out and sharing with our family. We are truly blessed. We know God listened to all our prayers because Joel (J.W.) is still with us and getting stronger every day and ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers. It has been a long journey and with your loving hearts, your prayers, friendship and concern have kept us blessed and lifted in spirit when our hearts were seemingly so empty. Thank you for every act of kindness, the prayers, cards, calls visits, the Care teams, the Sunday School Classes, the youth for their wonderful visits (what a blessing) the monetary gifts, all the items needed for his care for Dr. Danny and Rev. Donel, to all of you. Thank you!, Sharon and Doug Peace, Jean and J.J. HIghtower To Top |

A Word from the PastorI am delighted to see a greater involvement among our men at Pleasant Grove. Last year was a good turning point for the men's ministry. We had the first Outdoorsman Banquet. We participated in others. This year will be the second one to be held in March. Also, I'm happy to see their fellowship grow as they pray together and go skeet shooting. I think these are wonderful ways to grow in devotion to Christ and fellowship with each other. I am excited that we will begin a journey together on February 17. Men's Fraternity is a Bible Study that will be a big help to develop Godly men. Men's Fraternity is for all men! I do stress the need for young men to get involved and active. Please do not see this as another "churchy" thing to do. This ministry is manly in nature. Come relaxed. Dress casual. Come with an open heart for God to speak. Bring your friends. Bring your son, if you desire. The time for Men's Fraternity is 6:30. Let's be Godly Men-united for the purpose of living out Christ to our family, on the job and in our church and community. Love, Your Pastor Don's Dabblings Following some delicious chicken, baked potatoes, salad and frozen chocolate pie prepared by Jennifer Donald and Teresa Brown, our Evangelists, "E" team, 19 strong begin to care writing 15 notes and cards, making 2 telephone calls, praying for 54 individuals, and making 12 personal visits. Again, let me say thanks to so many who are faithful in their participation in CARE. I read about a man who was 94 years young. In his conversation with friends, he rarely spoke about the good-old-days. He was too busy talking about future plans and always looking ahead. He had to keep making younger friends or he would find himself lonely. As we think about our service to the Lord in our senior years, we may retire from a vocation, but we must never retire from life. God wants us to be participants and not spectators, even though we are not on the first team. Listen to the words of this proverb."The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness." (Proverbs 16:31) Attention Senior Adults Be sure to sign up for our Senior Adult Valentine Banquet, Saturday, February 14th at 4:30 pm.
