Help Awana Adopt-a-Club
When our Awana club adopted a needy club in Jamaica, we committed to send them at least $240 per year to help pay for their Awana materials.  This year we have collected only $133.85.  If your child has not brought money to help our adopted club, please remind them to contribute if they are able.  (It's not too late to earn an Adopt-a-Club patch.)  If you don't have a child in Awana, but would like to help us reach our goal, just put the money in the offering plate designated for Awana Adopt-a-Club.  Thanks!

Did you know that the church pays for half of the cost to send our kids to Camp Marietta. This year the WMU and Baptist men will pay $92.50 per child that attends camp. Due to a tighter budget this year, we need your help. If you would like to sponsor  a child or just make a donation, please mark your envelope "Camp Marietta Help." This is a great opportunity for our kids and we want to make it possible for everyone to go.

A Word from the Pastor
The Christian life is a life of faith. In fact, the common denominator of our experience with God is the faith  that we express to Him through Jesus, His Son. Faith is our expression of trust in  His work on the cross that allows us to be called children of God. That is saving faith. Many of us have shown our faith in Christ.
There is also practicing faith. This is faith that we need to live by. For many of us this daily faith is much harder  to live out. In fact, sometimes it is harder to ha practiced faith on a daily basis than saving faith. Isn't it odd that we can put faith in God whom we have trusted for our eternal salvation, yet it is difficult to trust Him in the daily grind of life?
Perhaps, we tend to think that we are exempt from the tough times because we are Christians. Well, we are not! Recently, I read Hebrews 11. It is the Hall of Faith in the Bible! Those people had far greater trials in that day than we do today. Yet, their lives showed brilliantly with practicing faith
We are living in some of the most difficult times that many of us have ever seen. We are hard pressed in our national, religious, and personal time. As a Christian, what is our response to God in these times? Quitting, getting angry with God, doubting His power and activity in our lives are not courses of action we should take.
Here is our only choice-FAITH. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. God's purpose in your life is not to make us happy, but holy and He does so as we remain faithful to Him.
God Bless, Love, Your Pastor

Don's Dabblings
Following some delicious vegetable soup, corn bread, and pumpkin crème pie, prepared by Lounell Rodd, our Reaching "R" Team got to work writing 15 cards and notes, making 2 telephone calls, praying for 43 individuals, and making 7 personal visits.
We welcome Christine Tronnes to our CARE Ministry as a member of the "E" Team.
Relationships are so important in one's Christian outreach.
Some people relate like marbles.
Some people relate like grapes.

Let us think first about marble relating folks. They protect themselves. They bump against each other, never enjoying a vital relationship. Lacking genuine love, they shutter when crushed, and hurt others. You see, when you crush marbles, you get disintegration –hard, sharp pieces. You can get hurt if you are not careful

What about grape relating folks? They accept their weakness as essential to forming relationships. They give love, knowing love is always vulnerable. Knowing that love and forgiveness is the heart and soul of our faith. When crushed, they bring blessing-fragrant, redemptive blessings. After all, when you crush grapes, you get refreshing juice.

Our shut-in of the week, beginning Sunday is Joyce Hodgens, 601 Mt Vernon Rd, Greer SC 29651
Love in Christ, Don Kelley
