A Word from the PastorPat Boone is a singer, writer, and actor of the 1950's. He and Elvis Pressley were friends of that era. Pat Boone tells the story of his last meeting with Elvis in an airport. Pat was headed east and Elvis was on his way to Las Vegas. Pressley said, "Pat, where are you going?" Pat said, "I'm going to be involved in some type of ministry". To which Elvis replied, "Hey, I'm going to Vegas. Pat, as long as I've known you, you have been going in the wrong direction." Boone replied, "Elvis, that just depends on where you are coming from and where you are going!" There is a great amount of truth in what Pat Boone said to Elvis. The perspective we have in life, in church, in family, and in our job depends on where we have come from and where we are going. Our walk with Christ defines our perspectives in life. We should live life with a backward look at the Cross of Christ and a forward look into heaven. As believers, we have been with Christ and are headed towards heaven. All of life is lived from these two points on life's compass. A change in direction my be necessary for some of us. A greater faith to stay the course may be the demand for others. What ever the challenges, let us remember from where we came and where we are going. Love, Your Pastor Don's Dabblings Following a delicious meal prepared by Susan Davidson, Mary Bennefield and Judy Fowler, our Crusaders "C" team and Ambassador "A" team combined to write 22 notes and cards, made 3 calls, prayed for 44 individuals and made 5 personal visits. Our CARE ministry is vital to our church in its overall ministry and outreach. It is essential that all CARE members remain faithful to their one hour commitment to the ministry. If you are unable to come on your team's night, come another Tuesday night. Over the years, I have been grateful for prayer partners. According to Romans 8:26, Christians have a live in prayer partner, The Holy Spirit. "We do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us" (Romans 8:26). When we do not know how or what to pray, we can still come in confidence to God with our need because our confidence lies not in ourselves nor in our intercession, but in the Holy Spirit. Not only does He hear and know our God's Spirit takes our inadequate prayers, breathes into them the Father's Will, and turns them into meaningful requests. Remember this: our live-in Prayer Partner knows our deepest needs! Our Shut –in for the week beginning Sunday, March 22 is Grace Lanford, Bayberry Retirement Center, 309 Northview Drive, Greer, SC 29651-1340 Love in Christ, Don Kelley Ballard's Ballads Friend Day is nearing and I hope you are thinking of friends you can invite on May 3rd for Friend Day. Look for friends who are un-churched. They can be people who are inactive from our church, a neighbor that does not attend church, a co-worker or new people in the community. SPIRIT'S CALL is coming back on Sunday evening, March 29th at 6:30 pm. This will be a love offering concert. Plan now to be with us. These 6 men will really bless you with their music. We need ALL CHOIR MEMBERS at the next 2 rehearsals to prepare for our cantata on April 5th. Please be there if at all possible.
