A Word from the PastorMay 3, 2009 is Friend Day at PG. I am looking forward to having my friend worship with me on this special day in our church. I hope that everyone will participate in this event. As Mike Cole has mentioned the purpose is not simply numbers, but this event serves as a purpose for us to connect with people in our community to bring them to Christ. This is a worthy program that everyone can participate. Friendships are important in a church. In fact, 93 percent of the people who stay at a church do so because of the friendships they have made. In a survey from 100 church dropouts who were asked why they left their churches, over 75% of the respondents said, "I didn't feel anyone cared whether I was there or not." I hope Friend Day sets our mind to help other people become connected with us and with our Lord. God Bless, Danny Don's Dabblings CARE did not meet March 31, but we still had folks visiting and writing notes. Adding what they accomplished to our Crusader "C" team ministry last Tuesday night, we wrote 26 cards and notes, made 3 telephone calls, prayed for 47 individuals, and made 16 personal visits. Many thanks for all you do in our CARE ministry! As I think about our coming Friend Day, I think of the opportunity it affords us. We have the opportunity in these last days to invite a lost friend or an un-churched friend (perhaps one out of fellowship with the Lord.) This we know for sure-opportunity comes today. Not yesterday for yesterday is gone. Not tomorrow-tomorrow may not come. "Now is the accepted time, " says the Bible; "now is the day of salvation" (2 Cor. 6:2) "Today while you hear His voice harden not your heart" (Hebrews 3:7-8) Jesus Christ comes to people today offering His grace and love, His full forgiveness. The opportunity is here for us. We have the opportunity to invite friends to come and hear the gospel preached and witness God's Spirit move in our midst! ATTENTION SENIOR ADULTS We are planning a bus tour on the "Dark Corner" on Tuesday, April 28. Our tour guide will be Mr. Dean Campbell who has authored a book about Dark Corner. We will plan to leave the church at 8:30 am to meet Mr. Campbell at the Junction. There will be several stops at historic places. Our tour guide will be on board the bus to give us a running commentary. This tour will be limited to the number we can comfortably carry on the bus. If there are more to sign up than we can carry, we will schedule an additional tour. We will plan to eat at the Junction following the tour. There is a sign up sheet in the hallway adjacent to the Sunday School office. Our Shut–in for the week beginning Sunday, April 19 is Ben Dillard, Bellaire Place, 23 Southpointe Dr. Apt 137, Greenville, SC 29607-6902 Love in Christ, Don Kelley Ballard's Ballads Thank you Adult Choir for the amazing music you presented over the last 2 weeks. You out did yourselves. Hope to see you at Wednesday rehearsal. Open Choir will be on April 26th. We will sing "I Feel Like Traveling On". Everyone is invited to fill the choir loft at 10:30 am. Just meet at 10:15 am in the choir room to prepare this anthem for April 26th. Friend Day is coming on May 3rd and I hope you have invited your friends to Sunday School and Worship. If you have a contract form filled out by a friend, please make yourself a copy and place the original on the bulletin board outside the Sunday School office. Sunday School Teachers and Workers meeting is planned for April 26th following the morning service. We will have lunch for you and your family and then show a training video by Johnny Hunt who is pastor of Woodstock Baptist Church and president of the Southern Baptist Convention. You will be done by 2 pm. Serving for Jesus, Gary Michael's Youth and Children News We had a great time at our Easter Celebration last Wednesday. We had about fifteen children that went on the Easter egg hunt. I would like to say, "Thank You" to all the parents that helped out with food and cleaning up afterwards. Also, several Wednesdays ago the youth went on a field trip to buy rice for Greer Community Ministries. I am pleased to report that we were able to buy 129 bags of rice for Greer Community Ministries. The youth did an awesome job with this community service project. Thanks you guys.
