A Word from the PastorPastor's Notes Friendship I Samuel 18:1 states, "The Soul of Jonathan was knit with the Soul of David and Jonathan loved him as his own soul." This is a very strong statement, "their souls were knit." This means that between these two men there was a great bond that united them as friends. There are many ingredients that make for a strong friendship. I want to mention these. Commitment is the glue that bonds two into one. The two friends are determined to make the relationship last. Regardless of the pressure or pain they are determined to make the friendship last. Acceptance is another key ingredient that helps friends become knit together. They accept each other as they are. They do not judge one another or constantly change the bar of acceptance for their friend. Transparency plays a major part in cementing a friendship. Friends speak the truth in love to each other. They are willing to risk. They are vulnerable. They say and do things that challenge their friend and become stronger and more accountable. Do you have a friend in your life like this. Have you one person in your life who you can be totally honest with and who can be totally honest with you? Do you have a friend who loves you without judgment toward you? Jesus is such a friend to us! He loves us without question. He sticks closer to us than a brother. He accepts us yet challenges us to mature in our relationship to Him. He is a real friend! May 3rd is Friend Day at PGBC. Here is your opportunity to show friendship to someone who needs a friend. In this act of kindness you can show Christ to others. Love, Danny Don's Dabblings Don's Dabblings Following a delicious home cooked meal by Mary Bennefield and Judy Fowler, our Ambassador "A" team got busy writing 21 cards and notes, making 2 phone calls, praying for 54 individuals, and making 7 personal visits. As we continue to prepare for Friend day on May 3, pray for that friend that you have invited to come with you. Building relationships enable us to have potential guests on that day. One of Satan's snares in our Christian life is the attitude that many adopt. What is it? It is getting accustomed to our blessings. For many, the Bible used to be an exciting book. It was a delight, a joy to study, a blessing to read. But now for many, it is more of a grind-a habit a person would not change but not the excitement it used to be. In the same way, we can take prayer for granted. Just think of what prayer is: fellowshipping with the God of the universe and sharing our needs with Him. But with many, prayer is a dull routine. Many have experienced significant answers to their prayers. Just last week a family told me of a prayer meeting in a hospital room that was powerful! And by the way, there was a significant improvement in the patient's condition afterwards. How we need to keep that sense of awe and worship that God is supplying our needs day by day. Ask the Lord to give us a new appreciation for His blessings.
