We are raising money for a Family Life Center.Pelham First Baptist Church The Golden Hour There is an agent (tPA) that can dissolve blood clots and prevent loss of function due to a stroke (brain attack) or can prevent destruction of cardiac tissue due to a heart attack. In order for the physician to order tPA, some facilities require the symptoms to have started within an hour (Often called the "Golden Hour"). Some factors, such as recent surgeries, may prevent administration of tPA. However, if you develop signs or symptoms of a heart attack or stroke, your chance of preventing tissue damage increases if you are in the emergency room within an hour of the first symptom. Some heart attack symptoms may include: discomfort in one or both arms, back, jaw and neck. The individual may be short of breath, feel chest "pressure", nauseated, and be sweating or restless for no apparent reason. Stroke signs may be: sudden numbness or weakness (especially of one side of the body), unexplained confusion, dizziness or difficulty talking or understanding what someone is saying. Other symptoms may be noted; if unsure, please call 911 or or go to the emergency room as soon as possible.Suzanne Anderson, MSN, RN Members in the Military Remember to pray daily for our members and family members who serve in the military. * Denote relatives of PGBC members.Stephen Graham . A Word from the PastorFriend Day was a great day in the Lord's house! I am very grateful to Mike Cole and his team of workers who made this day a special time. Also, I am grateful for everyone who invited a friend to come. I know that many of you invited someone, but for some reason they did not come. Well, you did your part and I appreciate your effort! As I think of friends, my mind races to one very special friend that is common to all. This friend is a gift from God to us. This special friend is our mother. Mothers meet all the requirements for a true friend. They love and accept us the way we are. They understand us. They listen to us and are totally honest with us. They encourage us in our lives and their love for us moves us to excel toward the goal to be better people. Mothers-thank you! We will honor you this Sunday morning. I hope to see you as we worship our Lord. Love, Danny Don's Dabblings Our Evangelists "E" team enjoyed spaghetti and all the trimmings prepared by Jennifer Donald. Though small in number, this team wrote 14 card and notes, made 3 calls and prayed for 42 individuals and made 10 personal visits. Once again, let me urge you to complete CARE Cards. There are times when you are the only one who knows of someone's needs. Caring for others is one of our primary concerns. As I thought about "Friend Day" and our emphasis on reaching our lost and unchurched friends, it dawned on me again that our main business is God and His business. We are not saved for us-we are saved because of Him and for Him. We are not to be filled with the Spirit for us, but for Him. His blessings come to us, not just to make life enjoyable but to make us employable to His glory. James in his epistle reminds us that life is short. Once an opportunity is past, you cannot seize it again. We must make the best use of the opportunities God gives us. Our Shut–in for the week beginning Sunday, May 10 is Mr. W.A. Williams, 108 Hill Street, Greer SC 29651 Love in Christ, Don Ballard's Ballads Thank you to our members who took time to invite their lost and un-churched friends to Friend Day. Continue to pray and invite them back again. Let's not give up on reaching these. Please, teachers and members who invited our friends, call , write and invite them. This Sunday we ask all our ladies to join us as we meet in the choir room at 10:15 am to prepare to sing in our worship hour. We will sing the Call to Worship and then go sit with your family. Our Children's Choir will be singing special music for our mothers, this Sunday, during Worship hour. Join us as we celebrate Mother's Day. All Children are invited to be a part of "Grand Slam Tuesday" from June 9-August 11. Registration is due by June 2. See Gary or Michael to pay your $20.00 registration fee. Evident Call will be with us in concert on May 31st at 6:30 pm. This trio will be a blessing to us as we worship together.
