A Word from the PastorFrom Your Pastor Last Friday, Barbara, Dedra and I went to visit with Diana in Hickory, N.C. Our purpose was to observe her graduation exercise from the Nursing Program at Lenoir Rhyne University. The time was well spent and the ceremony was one of joy and celebration. For students it was a mark of achievement that was reached. For parents it was a time of great pride for their child. This coming Saturday we will do it all again. This time is for Danielle. I am sure the time will be filled with celebration and joy. Graduations are double edged from a dads perspective. There is joy for the goal that is reached by graduation. There is a sense of sadness because there stares in my face the truth that my child is growing up, changing into a young adult, and moving on in life. The child of yesterday is the responsible, self supporting, adult today. Life is a blend of joys and sorrows. No one can control these highs and lows of life. They come to everyone. Life changes as do circumstances, people and plans. There is one constant in life. His name is Jesus. He constantly loves us and gives us peace through all the changes in our lives. Anchor your life to Him and you will discover enough grace, strength, and stability in an ever changing world. Love, Danny Don's Dabblings Don's Dabblings Following a delicious meal prepared by Susan Davidson, our Crusaders "C" team led by Anne Singleton got busy writing 16 cards and letters, making 5 calls, praying for 44 individuals, and making 5 personal visits. Many thanks to Louise Dillard for her help in our reaching out through notes and cards. Perhaps you invited an un-churched friend to "Friend Day" and that person did not come. Don't give up. Remember what Paul said: "Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do no lose heart" (Galatians 6:9). What else can we do? Treat the person with respect. Be gentle when trying to restore the person. (Gal 6:1) Remember that you do not have the power to change another person. Instead, ask God to help you become the person He wants you to be. Reach out in love. Seek God's wisdom in what to say and do in each encounter. Depend on God. Anchor yourself in God's word and continually commit yourself and your friend in prayer. (Phil. 4:6) ATTN Senior Adults-Remember to sign up for our Senior Adult Day luncheon on May 31. Our Shut–in for the week beginning Sunday, May 17 is Tillie Beddingfield, Rosewood Assisted Living, 5221 Highway 215, Pauline, SC 29374 Love in Christ, Don Ballard's Ballads Ballard's Ballads Thank you ladies choir and children's choir, for presenting special music this past Sunday for Mother's Day.
