X NO. XDr. Danny Emory. Pastor Jo Edwards, President Our June Happy Hearts meeting will be one week early. The meeting will be at the lake home of Hal and Ruth Tooley on Tuesday, June 16th. We will be taking the bus for all who want to go on it. There will be some cars going also and everyone needs to be ready to leave the church parking lot at 10:00 a.m. on the 16th. Our lunch for June will be a hot dog experience with all the trimmings and the cost will be $3.00. Several of Food Group #1 are taking desserts and this will be a good time of fun and fellowship. Many of you have gone to the Tooley's home before so you already know what a treat this is. Thank you very much to Hal and Ruth for opening their home to us and for all of the work that goes into it. I hope that all of you will be able to go. Once again this month we have lost one of our lovely senior ladies, Mrs. Louise Carpenter. As we grieve with her family, we also are aware of how much she missed her dear Ira and can rejoice with them that now she is with him again. What a lovely, serene lady she was and we will all miss her. Also, continue to remember Harmon and Betty Wood and family in the loss of Betty's beloved brother, John Phillips. Since we will be going to the lake this month, there will be no program. Congratulations to Donnie Loftis, who was elected senior adult of the year. Thank you for your faithfulness to the ministry. A Word from the PastorPastor's Words Congratulations to Donnie Loftis for being elected as Senior Adult of the Year. Donnie is deserving of this honor for he spends a good deal of time and effort to help people and function of the church. Congratulations Donnie! I covet your prayers as I prepare to begin a new series of sermons concerning encouragement. Our country, church , families and individuals need an encouraging word at this time in our lives. I ask that you pray for God to use His word to give encouragement to our hearts. As summer quickly approaches, vacation time begins. Let me say to you go, enjoy yourself, rest, have fun, be safe, but do not vacate from God. Find ways to worship Him while you recreate and rest. Be faithful in your Bible reading and remember to be faithful to God in your stewardship. I wish all of you a great summer. Love, Danny Don's Dabblings Don's Dabblings Following a delicious meal prepared by Jennifer Donald, our Evangelistic "E" Team got busy writing 10 cards, care notes, making 4 telephone calls, praying for 55 individuals and concerns, and making 11 personal visits. One of my favorite Scripture passages is 2 Corinthians 4:7; "We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us." It is wonderful knowing that God values the preciousness of my being. Though I may go the the edge, in His wonderful, sovereign power He will always keep me sane and safe as I respond properly to Him and to the trial. The psalmist often says that God holds us with His right hand. The "right hand of God" is an Old Testament metaphor for strength. God holds me with His powerful right hand as I walk the sidewalk of life. If I trip and both feet go out from under me, it is all right, because He is holding me. And He never lets go. Ruth and Hal Tooley have invited us to their lake home Tuesday, June 16. Lunch will be $3.00 each. If you have not signed up, please call Ruth at 877.5443. We will leave the church at 10:00 am Also, we have scheduled our Myrtle Beach Trip for September 14-17 with lodging at the Dayton House. The price of the trip includes the lodging, afternoon meal at the Chesapeake Restaurant, and a ticket to a production at the Alabama theater. The cost is as follows: 2 people to a room $170 per person 3 people to a room $140 per person 4 people to a room $125 per person A deposit of $70 is required by June 15th.
