This is our last meeting for fiscal year 2009 and we will be electing new officers for 2010. Thank you to all who are filling these offices for next year. August is typically one of the hottest months of the summer so for the meal Food Group #3, Merle and Linda Jones and their helpers, will be making a lovely cold plate lunch. It will consist of chicken salad, macaroni salad, fruit, tea and dessert. The cost will be $4.00. All you have to do is come and enjoy the meal and the fellowship. Rev. Kelley has charge of the program. Tammy Boyter is coming from Greer Hospice to share information with us about that organization and also to let us know about volunteer opportunities with them. You will want to come and learn about this work. I would like to thank all of our program chairpersons for their work in always providing us with the excellent programs that we have during the year. All of you do a wonderful job. Thank You. Looking ahead, we will not be having a meeting of Happy Hearts for September as many of us will be going on the beach trip so that will be counted as our September meeting. A Word from the Pastor[ Pastor's Words Greetings! The Church elected Bill Burr and Roger Smith as members of the Finance Committee last Sunday. Please pray for these men as the serve during the days of financial stress in our churche. Our Finance Committee needs Godly wisdom to use every dollar to continue the ministry of PGBC. This Sunday, the church will elect four men to serve as Deacons. Pray for God's leadership in this serious matter. Re-read 1 Timothy 3:8-13 to be reminded of the qualifications. The first Sunday in September, Mike Cole and I will begin a new Sunday School Class. The purpose of the class is to reach those who do not come to Sunday School. We will not take from other classes to build this class. Our purpose is to enlist people who are not attending Bible Study Classes elsewhere. It is hard to get new classes started. You can help us in two ways. Pray for those who don't come to Bible Study and tell us about them so we can invite them. You know more about people's activity in Bible Study than we do, but we will go to them if you tell us. May God bless you and keep you in His care! Love Danny Be an encourager Aug. 16-22 Send a card of appreciation, congratulations or recognition to someone. Aug. 23-29 Tell your Sunday School teacher, deacon, staff that you appreciate their ministry in your life. Don's Dabblings Don's Dabblings. Our Crusaders "C" team and our Ambassadors "A" team are meeting this week. Our Reaching "R" team and Evangelists "E" team will meet August 25. Attention Senior Adults going to Myrtle Beach If you have not completed payment for the trip, please bring it to our Happy Hearts luncheon on Tuesday, August 18. Wisdom is a much needed commodity in our world today. James is right on target when he says "If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God… (James 1:5a) God knows our deepest need. A single mother prayed for $2,000 to meet her financial need. God denied the request as she expressed it. Instead of giving her the money, God gave her a job she could handle. Then He gave her a friend who helped her to learn to manage her finances. God did answer her request, but in a way that reflected His wisdom. The best part is that she grew in her Trust in God. Someone has said: "One day...we shall gratefully see that God's great refusals were sometimes the truest answers to our prayers."
