AWANA Needs Help
We need one more helper for the 3rd-5th grade Awana group.  You would listen to children recite Bible verses and go with them to their game and story time activities.  Awana is from 6:30-7:45 on Wednesdays and meets September through May with breaks for school holidays.  Two people could share this position and work every other week.  Please help us keep this excellent program going. THANK YOU
Dear Church Family,
Thanks to all for the cards, visits, calls, and prayers during my recent surgery. A special thanks to Pastor Danny and Theron Fowler for being there during my surgery. Evelyn and I really appreciate our church and are proud to be a part of it.

Dear PGBC Family,
On behalf of our family, Cathy and I wish to express our sincere and humble appreciation for all of your prayers, notes and e:mails of encouragement, and your many acts of kindness and support during the recent illness and homegoing of my Dad.
It is always a blessing for us anytime we can be stateside with you, whatever the circumstances may be.  Know that we pray for you as you do for us.  God bless you all!

CD's from the Hearts and Talents of Nadine Chasteen and Betty Wood
Dear Church Family,
We have recorded two CD's entitled "Hymns From The Heart" and "Melodies Of Praise" which include many of our favorites.
Through much prayer, we feel led to support the mission work of Samaritans Purse in this endeavor. We are asking for a donation of $10.00 per CD which will go to this world wide ministry. Please make checks to Samaritans Purse.
We trust each of you will experience a blessing from hearing this music. Please see Nadine or Betty if you would like a CD

A Word from the Pastor
Greetings!
I am grateful for our youth and their leaders for the ministry they accomplished at the beach this summer. Last Sunday evening we were presented with a program that described their trip. They did many ministry activities and helped people of all age groups.
This ministry to others in Christ's Name is where the action is. This is the area we must continue to pursue. This is ministry beyond ourselves into the lives of others. I am grateful for everyone who has involved themselves in ministry to others this year.
Men, do not forget that September 8 is the start up date for MENS FRATERNITY. Invite other men who may not be a part of any church. This is for all men.
Also, Mike Cole and I will begin a new Bible Study Class on September 6. We meet in the Youth Room of the Gym. Starting time is 9:30 am. If you are not involved in a Bible Study, this class is for you.
Be an encourager

Our Crusaders "C" team and our Ambassadors "A" teams joined forces on August 11 and ministered effectively writing 63 cards and notes, making 12 telephone calls, praying for 35 individuals, and making 12 personal visits. Many thanks to all who participated in our CARE ministry.
Our Reaching "A" team and Evangelist "E" team are meeting this week, August 25. Our schedule for September is:
C and A Teams September 8 at 6:30 pm
R and E Teams September 22 at 6:30 pm
Completed CARE Cards have slacked off considerably. Your help in submitting them is needed.
I continue to be challenged by our present study in the letter of James. Its message is so practical and so timely. In James 4:17, we are reminded of the sin of omission: "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." Many of us have to confess that sin everyday. What are some of the examples?
We don't do enough. As someone has said, "Jesus called us to set the world on fire, yet we are satisfied with just simmering."
We don't love enough. The reason is probably because we are too caught up with outsiders.
We don't say enough. Jesus said "Ye shall be witnesses unto me." (Acts 1:8). Too many Christians are silent. All around us are people who are searching for the truth which will set them free. To have the truth and to be silent is a sin against God.
We don't pray enough. Jesus said:"Man ought always to pray and not to faint.
How we need to omit sins of omissions!

There will be an Upstate Sunday School and Outreach Conference held on Saturday, September 12th from 8:30 am-12:30 pm at Boiling Springs Baptist. We will take the church bus and plan to leave by 7:45 am. The cost is $5.00 payable to our church by September 4th. There will be classes for all leaders and age group teachers. You will be able to attend 3 classes and a joint rally at the end of the conference. Look on the bulletin boards around the S.S. Office to see the classes that will be offered. I hope and pray you will take this opportunity to gain knowledge of your area of ministry. We will never learn everything, but every idea can help.
