XI NO.IIDr. Danny Emory, Pastor Jo Edwards,HH President October 7, 2009 For our October meeting, we will be going to the farm of Joe and Marian Bishop at Dacusville for a cook out. It will be on October 20th and we plan to leave the church at 9:30 am. We will be having a lunch of hamburgers and all the trimmings, various desserts and drinks. These will be provided by Joe and Marian and by food group #2, Betty Wood and Doris Reynolds group. I hope that as many of you as possible will plan to go, and everyone is invited. All we ask is that you sign up for this. There will be no charge for this meal so plan now to attend. For those of you who want to do a little fishing, there is a lake at the farm so you can plan now on your fishing attire for the day. Don't forget your hat. Nineteen of us had a wonderful trip to Myrtle Beach in September, staying at the Dayton House. It is a lovely time of the year to go to the coast. Make your plans to go with us next year. Our November meeting will be the trip to Pigeon Forge. There will be sign up sheets for this trip also so get your name on it because you do not want to miss this. We will be going to two shows and, of course, doing some shopping. The fun and fellowship are my favorite parts of the trip and I want YOU to go with us. Just today we have learned of the passing of David Beeks. Please be much in prayer for Michael and his family and for Everett as they go through these very difficult days. David did much for our church in his long ministry here. We continue to have many who are sick, both in the hospitals and at home. Please be in prayer for these, and as always, remember all of our church family. Thank you for your faithfulness to His ministry. Jo Edwards, HH President Margaret Lynn, HH Secretary [From Ken and Cathy Moore} Dear Praying Friends, Thank you, dear friends, for your many prayers and words of encouragement in the recent passing of my Dad (Ken's) August 13. Cathy and I were not able to get stateside for his funeral, but your prayers and the Lord's grace have been sufficient in the aftermath to sustain us and keep us pressing on. My Mom, Beulah, (83) is doing good, thank the Lord. After 59 years with Dad, it is a huge adjustment. Please continue to pray for her. PRAYER REQUESTS . . . 1. Our Balthazar Village church plant is a "mixed bag" of encouragement and frustration. Lots of people come, but few are getting saved . . . "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." (2 Cor. 4:4) NIV - This truly seems the case in this village. Please pray that THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL - THE POWER OF GOD will overcome the evil one who blinds the people, that they might believe and come to salvation. (Romans 1:16) 2. "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, and against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians 6:12) A "religious spiritist" woman of an African animistic following here recently frightened a family that comes to our church plant by telling them something was buried in their yard that was causing the family members to fight with one another - in other words, somebody put a "curse" on this family. Obeah, voodoo, spiritism - however you want to phrase it - is deeply rooted in the people. Please pray that the villagers will come to believe the truth of the Word of God - that "the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." (I John 4:4b) and "if God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31) Pray that many will come to salvation and learn how to put on "the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, they may be able to stand their ground." (Ephesians 6:13) 3. "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8) Men of the village are mostly alcoholics and will not come to our church plant, though their women and children will. I don't say "wives", for few are married, no matter what their age. However, through much prayer, patience, and building relationships with about 5 of them, we have begun to see interest and small steps of progress develop. Please pray for Peter . . . a 65 yr. old man who is of some influence in this village . . . and who is showing interest in desiring to have a relationship with Jesus Christ . . . that Peter will come to salvation, and the other 4 men will desire to come to Christ as well. We thank God for each of you who continue to labor with us in prayer for the harvest fields where the Lord has placed us over these last 14 years. We humbly welcome those of you who are new to our Prayer Network and encourage you to freely share these prayer requests with your churches, prayer groups, Sunday School classes, and prayer ministries. As always, we would love to hear from you! It may take us a bit, but we will always answer you. Love in Jesus, Ken & Cathy Moore IMB/Grenada, West Indies Philippians 1:3-6 To Top |

A Word from the PastorPastor's Words God uses every trial and hardship to bring us closer to Him. During W.W. II, a man sent some financial support to a mission that sent Bibles to those who had no Bible. Along with his money he sent a note that said he would love to send more but the harvest on his farm was unprofitable because of the lack of water. He lived in an area where German bombs dropped near his farm and asked that the mission pray that no bombs would hit his farm. The leader of the mission prayed that God would have his will accomplished in their lives and property. Shortly after a German bomb fell down upon the man's farm. No one was injured, nor was any livestock hurt, but the bomb went so far into the ground that it liberated a submerged stream. The steam was so great that it was enough water to irrigate the man's farm. Next year the farmer had a BOUNTIFUL harvest and he was able to send a large offering to the mission. Sometimes God turns bombs into blessings! They come down from heaven, make a lot of noise and explode into something wonderful for us that refresh us and draws us to Christ. Love, Danny Don's Dabblings Don's Dabblings. CARE will be meeting next Tuesday, October 13 with our Crusaders "C" team and Ambassadors "A" team. If you are a member of these teams, we will look forward to seeing you. Remember our Happy Hearts October get-together will be a Joe and Marian Bishop's farm near Dacusville. We will plan to leave the church at 9:30 am by bus and other vehicles as needed. The men are encouraged to bring their fishing equipment. Joe has a lake with many fish to catch. We will enjoy a cookout featuring hamburgers, etc. There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board opposite the Sunday School Office. Is it just me or is time fleeing faster than ever? October seems to have arrived in a hurry. Long ago the psalmist David sought God's help as he wrestled with the brevity of life. He wrote: "Lord, make me to know my end, and what is the measure of my days, that I may know how frail I am (Psalm 39:4) What is God saying to David and to us? "Life is short-Live it well!"
